NutraPro Cod Liver oils provide a natural source of omega and are naturally rich in vitamins. This is truly a sign of a great product and a superior extraction process that manufactures the cod livers in an effective and gentle manner using cold pressed advanced technology. Note that many brands have to add back in high concentrations of vitamins after the fact, because their manufacturing process killled all of the nutrients.

      Strength rating: 4

Nutra Pro Cod liver Oil has a strength rating of 4 which is pretty good for someone who is looking to take it for general health and to support healthy immune functions. It has 600 mg Omega 3 (350mg EPA + 250 mg DHA). Note there are other brands that have a lot more omega 3 i.e., 1,500mg or more, so this is why it received a 4. High doses of omega 3 are well suited for those who really need proper vision support, skin support or heart support (cardiovascular health), especially if they already have a problem. Otherwise 600mg omega 3 is quite fine for every day healh and nutrition.

      Results Rating: 4

NutraPro International Cod liver Oil has a results rating of 4. Other brands with a higher dosage of omega 3 will see more results. Though, the 600mg is sufficient for general health, if you are really looking for strong eye, heart or skin support, then a product with a higher dosage of EPA and DHA may be more well suited for you. Studies show that most noticable results come at a gram (1,000mg) of omega 3 or more. Note that omega 3 has to be taken for at least a month to see results. NutraPro claims that that Virgin Cod Liver Oil & NutraPro High Vitamin Butter Oil when taken together have synergistic effects on nutrient absorption, utilization & overall health. This has not been proven but may be true. If you are taking cod liver oil for cardiovascular health, nail health, skin health, or eye health - note that it is important to see what dosage is needed to produce real results. Talk to your doctor prior to taking any dietary supplement. There is no fermentation or heating used in the manufacturing process which helps preserve nutrients. Also, the process and the purity of the cod livers help reduce fishy burps.

Here's the science behind the results:

Cod liver oil is a rich source of omega-3 fatty acids, which support heart health, promote optimal cholesterol levels, and enhance mental health through its ability to help protect against dementia and other age-related cognitive problems, and it targets depression, inattentiveness, and hyperactivity [1, 2]. Cod liver oil also an excellent source of vitamin D, which supports optimal mental performance, enhances immune system function, strengthens muscles and bones, helps protect skin cells from UV damage, and has anti-cancer properties [3-8]. Furthermore, cod liver oil supports healthy blood sugar levels and targets inflammation [8, 9]. It also contains vitamin A that promotes wound healing [8-10]. Cod fish usually contains more vitamin E than other warm water fish and this particular vitamin boosts the immune system and overall health [11].

      Safety Rating: 5

Nutra Pro Cod Liver oil received a perfect 5 on safety because the company regularly tests their cod liver oil for freshness, potency and purity by an independent, FDA-registered laboratory and it has been determined to be fresh, fully-potent and free of detectable levels of mercury, cadmium, lead, PCB’s and 28 other contaminants. This is  important as the last thing you need is mercury or PCB contamination in your body. Detectable levels of mercury can cause damage to your body.

Overall health [1-10]; Enhanced immune system, heart, brain, skin, teeth, bone, muscle health [1-11]
Cod liver oil contains large amounts of omega-3 fatty acids, which are healthy triglycerides that help lower unhealthy triglyceride and LDL (bad) cholesterol levels [1]. The omega-3 fatty acids in cod liver oil also contain cannabinoids that have anti-inflammatory properties [10]. The vitamin A in cod liver oil appears to accelerate the epithelial (tissue-related) and vascular (e.g., blood flow) components of the healing process, thereby improving wound healing [8-10]. Furthermore, cod liver oil contains docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) which protects cells in the brain from different types of damage, including tissue damage that can lead to dementia or other age-related cognitive issues, due to their antioxidant, vasodilating, anti-inflammatory, and anti-arrhythmic properties [2]. Cod liver oil is a good source of vitamin E and it supports skin, vision, cardiovascular, cognitive, and joint health, as well as the immune system [11].
